چکیده
A sustainable chemical industry needs to quantify its emissions and resource consumption by life cycle assessment (LCA). However, LCA requires detailed mass energy balances, which are usually not available at early process development stages. Here, we introduce a framework (A PROcess-specific, PRedictive impact AssessmenT method for Emerging processes, APPROPRIATE) provide fully automated, predictive the phases of development. Based on Gaussian Process Regression, is already applicable Technology Readiness Level 2. To overcome limited data availability, employ an encoder–decoder network in combination with transfer learning achieve latent representation as condensed molecular descriptor. We further propose integrate only but also descriptors, e.g., stoichiometric sum reactants’ impacts. Thereby, can distinguish between alternatives incorporate changes background systems. The compared state-of-the-art approaches shows increased prediction accuracy terms coefficient determination R2 = 0.61 global warming 0.3 former studies. Highly relevant features impacts descriptors. APPROPRIATE supports decision making stages allowing distinction quantifying predictions’ uncertainty.

Application of life cycle assessment to chemical processes
The literature on the application of life cycle assessment (LCA) to process industry products and particularly to chemical processes has been reviewed. The main purpose of an LCA is to provide a quantitative assessment of the environmental impact of products over their entire life cycle, with a view to making improvements. Application to processes, which are key parts of the life cycle, is impo...
متن کاملUsing Life Cycle Assessment Method for Selecting Optimal Waste Management System in Tehran City
Introduction: In Tehran with a population of 9 million currently, about 2.5 million tons municipal solid waste have been producing annually. Materials and Models: In this study by using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) model an optimal system of waste management of Tehran was recommended. Based on the quantity and quality of waste in Tehran in 2013 and facilities, three scenarios were selected. Fir...
متن کاملEmerging approaches, challenges and opportunities in life cycle assessment.
In the modern economy, international value chains--production, use, and disposal of goods--have global environmental impacts. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) aims to track these impacts and assess them from a systems perspective, identifying strategies for improvement without burden shifting. We review recent developments in LCA, including existing and emerging applications aimed at supporting envi...
